Katrina

Hurricane Katrina has devastated us in many ways. We have lost a rich source of our ancestry, we’ve lost a home to our Jazz community, we’ve lost the French Quarter, Marti Gras… the list goes on. Our gas (both natural and petrol) bills will be skyrocketing, our grocery bills will surge - we will all feel the effects of Katrina for some time to come. There are still human lives at stake in the gulf coast region, and we need to HELP NOW.

We need to take a moment to donate what we can to these people in their time of crisis. Whether you can donate time, money, clothing, food, water - or even a place to stay - these people need your help.

Whatever your political beliefs are around this issue - we need to do something, and we need to do it NOW. We can all see there isn’t enough being done, and we need to get to work to provide our fellow man their basic necessities.

I’ve been volunteering a lot of my time lately manning the phones at my local RC chapter. I have heard so many stories, so many individuals are lost and without hope. So many people have lost everything in their lives. And, I’ve only been speaking with the ones who’ve managed to get out. There are thousands of people stuck in New Orleans with no way to leave, no food to eat, to water to drink, and no place to call home. Find the compassion to help. Please.
